Coach Scott Magen

I started my martial arts journey in 1986, studying Kung Fu on summer break from college. I was hooked. I spent the next 25 years involved in striking arts including tae kwon do , Muay Thai and kickboxing.  Living in Summit County, Colorado for most of those years, there were no schools teaching grappling.
Finally after my move to Littleton, I joined Steve’s brand new academy in 2010.  I knew right away that this was where I wanted to be. Jiu jitsu is the only martial art that you can practice every day  against a fully resisting opponent. That’s what makes it so irresistible to me. Walk in the door and test your technique against people bigger, smaller, older and younger. Keep it light some days and train really hard others. Whatever your mind and body needs. Don’t think I could live without it.
I am a small business owner, a husband  and a father of two. It’s hard for me to adhere to a typical martial arts academy schedule. That is why I love the morning classes. Come train with us at 6am and get your training in while most of the world is fast asleep
