Banish the Bully

Children’s formative years are absolutely crucial for establishing their sense of self, their worldview, and their outlook on life. Unfortunately though, all too many children experience the debilitating affects of bullying. Being bullied can make children feel humiliated, helpless, scared, and angry. It affects everything, from schoolwork, to close relationships with family and friends, to the child’s view of their ability to succeed, and more. We teach children the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to help them release those unhelpful feelings and transform their life experience into a positive one. So, how exactly does it work?

Size Does Not a Victor Make

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is martial art in which, with practice, even a much smaller opponent can triumph over a larger one. It is not size that is important, but rather the precision of movement and balance that enables one to destabilize and overcome their opponent. Much of the work is done close to the ground, and the movements and holds use leverage to achieve success. We teach children how to find confidence in themselves, building their emotional strength while they build their physical strength. Let’s work together to stop bullying in Denver by empowering kids to own their power, believe in themselves, and build healthy relationships with self, each other, and the community at large.

It’s Tournament Time Again!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors from all over the country brought their best game to California for the 2014 SJJIF World Tournaments, and the Colorado Jiu Jitsu family was behind them all the way! The tourneys celebrate and encourage the rigorous training that the participants have committed themselves to, and reward the best holds, technique, and positioning with ranked scores. This is a time for coming together in support of the community at large, and honoring the commitment to the art and the sport we’ve all come to love. It’s a life-changing practice, and we’re grateful to be a part of it.
